Default Throwing an ls2 in an fbody

I blew my ls1 and have an opportuninity to get an ls2 short block for cheap will all my sensors plug in and computer still work from the ls1. I'm either gonna get a set of 241s or 806 both with a bunch of work done to them which would u recommend for the ls2? Also will my headers still work or will there be clearance issues?

Thanks Brett

How did you blow your ls1? what are you getting the ls2 shortblock for?

I wouldnt put 806 heads on the ls2, maybe the 241's if they had work done to them..

the eps 230/234 is sounds like a good street cam, not too big, not too small

But will my computer and harness and all my sensors work with it? Will I have to get new headers or will the engine be the same dimensions in the engine bay

As the cam sensor is in the front cover on the ls2. You'll have to lengthen the Cam sensor wires and may have to swap the outer 2 wires for the ls2 front cover.
Lengthen the knock sensor wires and mount the K S down on the side of the block. They will work but may read a lil different since they will be in a different location.
Everything externally will mount the same.

And yes, the computer will work fine though you will need a new tune

Double check the crank sensor on the LS2 for the correct reluctor wheel 24x or 58x the LS2 GTO engine is a 24x and will work with your computer the corvette and some trailblazer LS2's are 58x and will need a lingenfelter convertor box to work with your computer. You will also need LS1 knock sensors which are 1 wire and the LS2 knock sensors are 2 wire and are located on the side of the block and the LS1 knock sensors are in the valley cover, I am not sure but maybe you can use the LS1 valley cover with the LS1 knock sensors.

There are no provisions for the knock sensors in the valley cover on the ls2.

Caspers has the wires you need. You must use your Ls1 k/s and on Caspers wires both are incorporated together you get both long wires to put a k/s on each side of the block and one long wire to reach the cam sensor. You also have to see the cam gear, Ls1's have a 1x or half moon on the gear, most Ls2's have a 4x or four broken up lines in it. In order for you to run it without a converter box you must have a 24x crank reluctor and a 1x cam sensor.
