Where have all the rods gone?

Where have all the rods gone? With all the stroker motors being built with upgraded rods and pistons, where are all the good floating-pin rods going? I don't see them for sale much, and I need a set on the cheap.
What motor are you building? ls1, ls2, l76? or are you building a stroker engine. Just need a lil specifics to find you a rod.

I just bought a set of Manley Hbeams for $425 a couple of weeks ago. Find a machine shop who is Wharehose Distributor for Manley, they get special notices on parts overstocks. There were around 40 sets of LS rods as of 2 weeks ago, and they weigh less than LS3 rods.

Not looking for an LS engine, looking for something for an early SBC. Going to re-bush the little end for a .927 pin. This is one of those deals where I'm putting a motor together on the cheap with all used parts (except rings & bearings) that were leftovers from other builds or upgrades. I plan on going racing for under $1k, car included.

Specifically what rods are you looking for? LS takeouts? Early SBC rods?
I've got dozens upon dozens of Gen I SBC rods, if you want to be cheap for a race motor, don't even bother bushing the small end, just hone it and float the pin right in the steel, we used to do this all the time.

Ugghhh.... See your avatar? That's how I feel. I'm in the Gen IV internal engine section with a thread title of "Where have all the good rods gone?". That would imply a Gen IV-specific floating pin rod. I only said what I was going to do with them after someone ask what I was building. I guess I should have lied. Too many things around here turn into a pissing match, everyone's right and nobody is wrong. I think my time spent is more enjoyable over on the H.A.M.B.

need much more info. Engine block, crank, pistons, horsepower desired,
intended use of the engine. True, many LS stroker assemblies use GEN I SBC
rods for either 2.1" or 2.0" rod journals and several pistons use the .927"
pin diameter and the compression height for a 6.125" rod length as opposed
to the 6.098" of the LS.
You really have to maximize your resources especially since your pocketbook
is on the slim side. Like Jerry Maguire once said "Help me help you"....LOL
Driver56, if I were looking for a set of gen4 rods, with floating pins, to install in a sbc, I'd check out the classifieds here on this site. I don't think I'd look in the sbc specific section for ls rods.

Just for future reference, there are a bunch of guys here who can help you but you need to be very specific in what you are building and what you are trying to do. Alot of guys know how to search the end of the internet to find what you are looking for but you have to get very specific so we can find it.

^^^Same here. I have a set of L92 rods out of a 2008 Escalade that are floating pin for sale.
Just for future reference, there are a bunch of guys here who can help you but you need to be very specific in what you are building and what you are trying to do. Alot of guys know how to search the end of the internet to find what you are looking for but you have to get very specific so we can find it.

I really appreciate the help, but I was just needing a set of GenIV floating rods and the specifics of the engine have nothing to do with this forum, that's why I didn't mention my build 'till I was asked. Simple questions sometimes get out of hand.
Then your question should of been simple like. "I have a project that I am building and need a set of floating pin rods does anybody know where I can find a set on the cheap?" See how simple that was. I didnt state what engine it was but I did say it was a project.
I understand that ,but what you posted is like me posting on a ford site looking for a ring and pinion but saying I have a 12 bolt.

Close, but not exactly. I posted on a LS site looking for LS rods. If anyone wants to do what I'm doing there is a bushing for an International that fits the small end of the LS rod but has a .919 id. A little honing on the Sunnen and I'll be good to go with a standard .927 pin. The pistons I'm using are for a first-gen SBC but I did a little flycutting and used them in a genIII 402, now I'm using them in a regular SBC like normal but using the LS rods. Oh yes, it will work. Like I said, I'm using what I have to go racing for cheap. Well, I already race, but that's pretty serious. This deal is for fun.
Do you have to use a 6.098 length ls rod?
Wouldnt it save you a hassle to just use a sbc rod?
Or a 6.125 or 6.100 forged ls rod?
Or even an on center rod. The above rods alredy come equipped with .927 wrist pin bore.
What is the compression height of the piston you want to use?and stroke of ur project?
