Please recommend me a cam!
This cam game is driving me nuts. I know just enough to make myself dangerous.... Enough said.
The car is a 2000 SS camaro. I have a blown head gasket so I plan to pull the 5.7 and use a 6.0L iron block that I was building for fun on the side. I started out with a lq4 bottom end. I bored the block .30 over. My pistons are flat top with no valve reliefs. I know the LQ9 has valve reliefs but I couldnt find any pistons with reliefs without getting custom ones. I decided I wanted to take advantage of the ls3 heads so I have a brand new set as well as a new ls3 intake manifold with injectors. The car is a manual 6spd with 3.42 rear end for now. My Goals are...I want a car that will be driven mostly on the streets and once or twice a year to the track. I like torque but I dont want it to the point to where I cant gain traction and all i do is spin the tires. The ultimate cam in my opinion would pull all the way from down low all the way up to say 6800/6900 RPMs. I dont like to spin above that. My valves are stock but I replaced my springs with comps 26926-16 kit. So given that information, I am worried about PTV issues with cams because of everything I have read. Can anyone recommend any safe cams that will take advantage of my free flowing heads and pull well throughout the rpms. If you could tell me what you think I should get and explain why, I would appreciate it!

The large LS3 intake ports flow so well that the Ex. to In. ratio suffers a bit.
Consequently they respond to a bunch of extra exhaust valve timing. I'd call
Geoff Skinner @ EPS, or Pat G. uses EPS lobes as well. Something in the
226/238 @ .050" range with a bit wider 114 or 116 ls would help with the
wide 2500-6700 power band you are after. The smaller intake lobe should
help that 2.165" intake valve clear the true flat piston
