I have a TSP 408 with TEA TFS 235 and posted my cam specs. Although that is a nitrous cam. My last cam had the LSL and XER lobes and the XER lobes were too aggressive for my stock valves. Thats how i ended up with a 408. I'm running the hud lobes or what ever they are called. I'd have to look at the slip again. The are like an aggressive marine lobe as explained to me by Pat G.

HUC lobes, they are modeled after the Extreme Marine lobes which are a great lobe, especially for boost or heavy valve-trains.

My buddy runs a sponser grind in his 402 i believe its a 247/252 or around there. Lift is in the low 6's and 112 LSA. Car runs great and makes around 530-550 RHWP.

I'd like to hear his thoughts on why he chose to shorten the exhaust duration so much when your going to be using a LS3 cylinder head.

Knowing these heads have poor I/E% and using such a short exhaust duration on a 408 goes against what has made great power before with this combination in mind.

What did you tell him you wanted from this cam? Or did you just say, "Spec me a cam for a 408 with LS3 heads"?

I dont like where this is going.....and i filled out his 4 page piece of paper with all my car mods, etc on it and emailed it to him. Specifically stated i was looking for a cam with a nice lope to it and wanted something to "give me the best bang for the buck to match my CNCd Ls3 heads".....

Sounds like Patrick had more information on which to base his recommendation than is given in this thread. So, that may have something to do with the disparity.

Also, I have often noted Patrick saying that he does not believe square port heads need a much spread as other like to run on them. So, his recommendation does not surprise me.

IDK if you've ever seen the form he has his customers fill out when asking for a cam, but its VERY detailed. and i've never heard of anyone not satisfied with a cam he's specked for them so i have faith!!

I never said anything was wrong with it.

I respect him a lot which is why I said I would like to hear his thoughts. You can always learn something from someone like him.

Ease up guys no bashing here.

Maybe some ballpark recommendations on a cam for a TSP 408 with TFS 225cc heads? Sorry for the thread-jack lol. -8cc dish pistons, wanting a very lopey cam idle, street driven the majority of the time. Only revving it out to 6500. It is a Gen III block though, so this probably isn't the best section...
