5.3 ring gaps the final word ???
Ok so my build is a 5.3 L33 out of a 2005 gmc sierra
Now I know everyone says open up the ring gaps to .028 or .030 but I have read about people just running it at the factory spec and having no issues. Keep in mind this is going to be a e85 s475/s480 turbo car looking to make 800 to the tire. So what's the final word run it factory or open the gaps up? Also why is everyone running the ls9 head gasket over a cometic or other mls gaskets that properly fit the bore of a 5.3. The ls9 bore is 4.065 and the 5.3 is 3.78. If it works it works but I'm just looking for some clarity on why the ls9 gasket is so popular.
