Any comments/additions/changes to this Schwanke LQ9/LS3 build for my D1SC vette?
It seems that I've hurt a ringland on one of the pistons in my stock LS3, so it's time for a replacement.
I'll be running this motor in a '09 6spd vette w/ a ProCharger D1SC, looking for around 800-850whp if the blower will get me there, if not I'll swap to an F1.
This is my first GM motor, so if there's anything that I'm missing or doesn't look good, let me know.
Schwanke:
- new GM 6.0L Iron Block (Gen IV)
- GM 3.622"" crank
- Engine Pro H-beam rods with ARP 2000 bolts
- Wiseco pistons w/ upgraded pins (-11cc, 9.2:1, gas steel nitrate rings)
- ARP main studs
- Cleveite non-coated H bearings
- machine and assembly work
Then I'll add the rest:
- original LS3 heads
- Dallas Performance D6 cam (stock timing set and oil pump)
- Patriot Extreme LS Dual Valve Spring & Titanium Retainers Kit
- GM LS9 head gaskets
- ARP Head Stud Kit

This build list is from my conversations with them via email. I also spoke with LME, but they were more expensive (same core build with a few additional touches and callies rods). Schwanke is only $3460 shipped for the shortblock.

I don't think so, but is there anything to worry about at the 370ci size? I haven't heard of many other builders doing that check. As far as the rods, that seems odd to me too, but they say they are good and I could do an upgrade to eagle h beams for $100.

A local guy ran a schwanke motor in his gen iv camaro with a big nitrous shot (9's @ 14x mph). Motor held up fine but melted a piston at some point. I guess they do racing motors and have been around ~23 years.
