Default 6.0 dd build

I have decided to do a 6.0 swap and was hoping to get some set up opinions. I will just list The perameters of my build. 1. Has to be as dd friendly as possible 2. I am hoping to end up with about 500rwhp (trying for low 11's) 3. I am being budget minded, but as of now I am prepared to put in $3000 into The build (budget is adjustable). 4. I already have a tsp torquer v2 cam that I would like to use in the 6.0 if possible.Thank you for you're help.

If you are planning on going forged bottom end them $3000 isn't going to happen. And 500RWHP isn't easily done without going with a stroker or buying a very very good set of heads & and a cam to match those. GL

what he said^ $3000 would get you a nice H/C setup if you leave the bottom end alone but you wont make 500whp. If your on a budget the bottom end on these engines is rather stout. I'd upgrade the rodbolts and if the motor is high mileage maybe just do bearings and rings. then take the rest of the money and sink it into a good set of heads like AFR's and get a cam to match. In the end you will have a DD friendly car that makes 460whp and will scream all around rather than having a 500whp car that lives at 6k and could let go ata ny time.

I believe The engine I have found has 120k. I do like The cam I have, but would be willing to swap it for a better matching one. Are afr's better than The stage 2.5 5.3l heads?

Way better. Stock castings are a great budget head, but they dont compare to afr, tfs, etc

500 RWHp on a 3k budget is tuff. 500 Flywheel is easily doable. LS3 heads and one of these cams.

wheel horsepower will also heavily depend on your drivetrain....i just put a 6.0 into mine with 243 heads and a z06 cam out of an 04 corvette. Full bolt ons I put on from the previous motor etc...If you already have most of the parts, 3k might happen but 500 rwhp, you will need to beef your trans and rear and the list goes on. Anyways the motor has great street manners, but I can already tell the trans won't last long (4l60E).

I had to get mine done as soon as possible, but if I could have taken some more time, I would have gotten a 4" crank and turned it into a 402, then bought a good set of heads and a cam and intake to match. Don't just throw parts together, have things spec'd out and do it right the first time so you won't have to do it all over again. There are a few threads from mamo and geoff that have stout builds, but they aren't "cheap" setups.

I have read a few different places that the torquer v2 cam would do well with l92 heads and ls3 intake. Would that be a solid setup?

unfortunately I don't have experience with the ls3 top end, but when my dad built his 408 with the ls3 top end, speed inc spec'd him a cam with a wide split in duration. Usually that top end works better with the wider split from the reading I have been doing.... I could be wrong though since I don't have personal experience with it

The ls3 top end is nice but with your 4.0 bore I really think you are better off with some nice ported and milled cathedral castings, or shop around in the for sale section for some used AFR, Trickflow etc heads. You will for sure want a FAST intake as well.

For sure. More cubes normally means more low end power, which for a street car is what you want. Useable power where you can use it, and enough cubes and power to allow you to run a decent cam without having to lose as much driveability.

id suggest just buying either the entire shortblock, or rotating assembly from texas speed. everything is already matched up, and you do have plenty of options for different compression blah blah blah.
