UPDATE! Finally finished the build and had it tuned by James Short of Shortuning. I am very pleased with the outcome. We ended up with 468/415 on a dyno dynamics!

What kinda power would this build put down with C5 manifolds instead of headers?

Stock L92 block with stock LS3 heads and intake here. TSP 231/236 cam with 1 3/4 headers and I made 460/455 to the wheels untuned. 470/460 now after some tweaking, auto 4L65E and on a superflow dyno. Basically a stock cam only LS3 so 475rwhp is easy. I know that with 1 7/8 headers I'll pass that easy so you shouldnt have a problem getting there. A few guys with 6spd have hit the 500rwhp mark cam only. Its all about the right combo.

James' dyno is SUPER stingy also....he is well over 500rwhp on a Dyno Jet with those numbers from Short.

Id think even more than that, depending on the y pipe. Why would anyone even do that.

I'm thinking about ditching my 5.3 for a larger displacement engine. I don't want to do anything major, so a good cam build like this is right up my alley. Unfortunately, LSx motors didn't come in 1972 Mercedes, so the space isn't there for 1 7/8" long tubes. Maybe one day a Mustang II front end will find it's way under there, but I foresee backhalfing it first.
