Default New build advice

Hi fellas,

I've had the car a year and winter's coming. I was going to build a iron block 408, but an '08 L92 popped up for a screaming deal. Shoot me some ideas on this:
6.0 iron block with LS3 heads vs an L92, both with aftermarket forged
4" cranks and H beam rods. Obviously the L92 will be a bit lighter, which is important because I race alot.
I have an MS3 cam in my LS1 now with very low miles. I know it's not optimal, but it's free and I'm going to use it. With that being said, with my setup I'm looking to shift between 65-6800rpm and go through the traps at or below 7k. Either engine will get a FAST intake and 102MAF.
I'm also planning to eventually spray a 150 shot(hopefully the following year when $ is available). The cam is mild, but I drive this thing a ton and don't feel like changing valvesprings like socks. The LS3/L92 heads stock have very good flow at 600 lift (which is where I'm at).
If I can get both longblocks for the same price, which way would you go?

I'm in no rush, just getting opinions of guys who've been down either (or both) roads.

Thanks

Is the l92 complete? Why not do a turbo build on it for the same price as building a 408?

The L92 with the lighter block and bigger bore is the best bet.

I really want to put aftermarket pistons/rods/and crank in each. I cost I'm paying for the heads and blocks are about equal. I guess I could always keep the L92 at stock displacement with the MS3 and spray a little heavier too. I could actually use the topend more than the torque, I have a hard enough time hooking the way it is. I would think the L92 block with ARP studs should be able to take anything I can throw at it short of lots of boost.
I would be satisfied with a pumpgas setup that can sneak in the 10s. The car as it sits right now with real tires would be in the high 11s with the LS1.

Leaps and bounds for the l92 by far. Ls3 heads on anything less than a 4.030 bore is not optimal. But with a real 4.065 ls3 bore you can take full advantage of and open plenty more doors for head options.

Alright, it looks like the L92 will be the way to go. The more I read, maybe I'm better off spec-ing out a cam for those heads instead of the MS3.
I'm looking for something I can shift between 6600-7000 and go through the traps no higher than 7200. That being said, I want to stay with a hydraulic roller cam. I've done the mechanical route before and it's a pain on the street...too hard on the lifters.
Who out there has built a full-forged bottom end 376" with a 200 shot and what aftermarket kit did you use? I could either do this, or go 408. The smaller engine would zip a bit more and be more top end oriented. That's fine by me. I dont need oodles of low end torque.
Any help or input on comparing these two L92 combos would be great. Thanks

Search "stangkilr" on here. He had a 376 with heads and cam on a 250 progressed shot. Here are a few vids.

Edit: I forgot to add that he's turbo now so its even sicker.

Thanks, this is exactly what I'm after. I want to run 9s again, and the car is finally set up for it.
