2011 Escalade L94 Help
I'm looking to purchase a L94 out of a 2011 Escalade. From researching on this site, it appears the L94 is a little different from the L92. If I'm correct the L94 has VVT and also AFM/DOD.
1. I would like to be able to make a little over 500hp, if possible 550hp. What all will it take and should the DOD and the AFM be removed to do this?
2. Is it neccesary to remove the vvt and AFM to make good power? I just want it to be reliable as I have read about multiple AFM/DOD lifter failures.
3. Once the DOD and VVT can you run any valves, springs, and cams that a LS3 can run?
The engine will be placed in a 1971 C10 truck. So gas mileage is not a big concern. I'm basically trying to see if I should purchase the l94 or wait for a l92.
Thanks in advance!

Delete the DOD, keep the VVT, get a TSP VVT-2 cam and an L92 PCM and you should be close to your goals. The springs will need upgraded and lifters replaced, but anything else would just be strengthening stock parts. Your trans choice may dictate your PCM choice, but your heavy truck will appreciate the VVT.

Truck will have a 6l80 from the same vehicle that will be converted from AWd to 2wd.
what type of horsepower numbers with a set of doug thorley headers and the TSP vvt-2 cam, springs, and TSP dod/AFM delete kit do you think it will get?

Click on the dynojet icon and you'll see they made 450 rwhp with the VVT-2 on a 2010 camaro Automatic car.
I'm hoping for a similar or slightly higher number on my T56 backed VVT-2 L92.

I'm wondering if i should pass on the l94 and just look for a l92 or ly6. This will save some money by not having to delete the AFM with it appears will cost a little under $400 for a kit plus a lot of labor.
what do you guys think?

I'd buy it, my 7xxx mile 08 L92 complete with accessories cost my 3k and i thought that was a deal. Than i bought a 6xxx mile 2wd 6l90 out of a 08 3/4 ton truck for 1k, i had a hard time finding a 2wd 6l80 from a 1/2 ton. I would delete the AFM and put a cam in it right away.

Bro, I can get you a brand, spanking new LY6 shortblock for $2000 + shipping. All you have to do is put your heads, cam, oil pan, intake, covers and accessory drive on it. That's what I did. Yeah, it's $2k, but it's brand, spanking new too. I know it's a little bit more money. It has stock internals, but upgrade the cam you put in it an viola...you got a nice motor.

Any news on this setup? I've got a similar opportunity. I thought maybe a cam from TSP (AFM3) along with a Paxton supercharger would get me to my goal of 550 rwhp.
The nice thing about that VVT is the huge torque curve it can produce and a very smooth idle.
