Default LS3 deck height.

The stock connecting rod is like 6.098" but the shortest upgraded one I can find is 6.125" I don't want to change the stroke of the engine... but I will if I have to.

You will not be able to use a stock piston and will need to install a performance piston to match the new rod length. The new piston will have a different pin location and will eliminate any need for a stroker crank. We offer a few brands of rods but a good value set would be Lunati 4340 H beam rods for LS engines. We also offer several pistons for LS3 engines with 6.125 rods and stock bore/ stroke.

The other thing to look out for is the pin diameter. Most aftermarket rods use a .927 pin while the factory uses .945.

Scat makes a forged H beam rod that I think will work with a factory piston. 2-LS1-6100-2100-945 (ARP 8740) or 2-LS1-6100-2100-945A (ARP2000).

If you are replacing pistons, you should probably go with 6.125 rods and a piston with the appropriate compression height.

It's not stroke that you're looking at it's how much deck clearance or protrusion you will have. 6.125 length with a stock piston would stick out of the block .027 more and that would almost certainly result in unacceptable quench (head clearance) unless your deck height happens to be much taller than most LS blocks.

If you're not gonna spray it, you might get by with (lathe) turning that much off the piston crowns. Not sure if a factory piston is up to that and it could also affect your compression ratio...

Stock rods with upgraded bolts are pretty tough.

well, I want to supercharge it but apparently the pistons are not good over 500hp. so I may as well replace the crank and **** and sell it to fund the crank, rods, and pistons partially.

I was thinking an Eagle rod set and Mahle pistons or something. Are Mahle pistons good to 1000hp? I don't want 1000 HP I just want stuff that is rated for way better than I have lol.
