Am I reading right when the deck thickness of the PC heads measured out to be the same as stock heads?

Very informative thread. I have 2 reasons for being curious about Procomp. First, we're having the engine in our '01 Vette built right now and we were looking for something to replace the 241s with. I first ran across the Procomp and was floored by the prices. I then started researching them. I seen many posts calling them "Chinese junk", but I actually took the time to look further and look for actual problems. To my surprise, most who were actually using their heads were happy with them. I run into the same thing on the Corvette forum... Many people call them "junk" just because they're cheaper than the $2000 set of heads they bought...LOL. After the research, I had my Fiancee call Procomp to check on becoming a vendor, as she owns a performance parts store. I can't give anyone the exact price, but I will say that these things are stupid cheap...LOL. They cost us less than what the machine shop wanted to just refresh our 241s with no port work. These are going on our show car... Stock cube, stock crank, Eagle 6.125" h-beams, Probe forged pistons, Mahle moly rings, COMP 232-234 / .595"-.598" on a 112, Scorpion 1.7s, LS6 intake, 42# injectors, headers, exhaust, progressive controlled 250 shot, "Pro Race" 4L60E, and a Protorque 3200 stall...OK, so it might be a pretty quick "show car".

Posts 89-93 are of a dyno test with these heads. It would be nice to see more though.

I am just waiting on a couple more pieces and mine will be ready for the transformation. I went with a slightly smaller cam than the other guy that just posted his results. I was looking for a cam with a little broader power range since I am not dropping the gear ratio in mine just yet.

Cam Motions designed me a custom grind that is 612 and 595 with a 226 230 on a 112.

Hey where is a good place to order head gaskets?

Okay, I am getting closer. My new headers from Pfadt just arrived. Man, these things are NICE.

I still need to order some head gaskets. Any recommendations?

Sorry for the long delay. I finally got time to make all the upgrades.

So far so good. The heads worked out real well.

I also ported the intake to match the heads. That worked out real well too. The new heads had ports much bigger than the stock heads and it just didn't make any sense to not open up the intake to match them. While I was at it I painted the intake to match the car.

There were a few other mods too.

Phadt racing headers with 4 into 2 into 1 design, and a wide band sensor.

Dumps from Badlandz.

I figured nothing is quieter than the factory mufflers and nothing flows better than open exhaust. Talk about mild to wild...

Vararam air cleaner too.

Still looks stock on the outside.

And a new torque converter from FTI.

Now for more data logging and tune file changes to get it all tweaked out.

After four data logs and new tune files it is really starting to sing now and it is making some decent power.

So I must say that the heads turned out real well, and so far I am very pleased with them.

I plan to use stock mufflers to keep it quite.

I use a set up CNC PC heads (cnc from a performance shop in cali, not from procomp them selves) on my 408. It seems to run pretty good. got a vid of me racing a ls1 with a 150 shot. It trapped 125mph in 1/4 before I had the carb really dialed in and timing set good.
