best cam for a ls3

just bought a ls3 short block cnc ported ls3 heads and ls3 intake for my 98 trans am. what cam would be the best to use to gain the most hp/tq. without having to cut the pistons

Agreed. There are plenty of off the shelf options out there and of course you could always go custom. For what purpose will the motor be built?! Assuming you already have the supporting bolt ons etc. I personally would go with the Thunder Racing Tru Torq lvl 5 cam. Seen nothing but good results from it but haven't seen them around here in awhile.

for now its just going to be a cam only ls3. with the factory intake and cnc ported ls3 heads. i may eventually get the fast 102 and a small shot of nos 75 to 100 shot maybe. im not really a big nitrous fan

the lethal racing night fury cam is super popular with the gen 5 camaro guys. ported heads, stock shortblock is knocking out 500 to the wheels as the norm.
they also like the tsp 231/236 cam and vengeance stage 2.
just pick what suits your needs and look at some dyno graphs to see where the tq level makes you happy
