LS3 Cam Bearings and Clearings
Hi!
I had to rebuild my engine due to failure on one lifter, damaging the cam and bearings. This is a race engine, most of it is stock like crank shaft, rods and pistons but have L76/L92 combo on top and a High performance custom grind cam (New from CompCamp/Texas Speed), Lunati Racing Lifters and new Dual EHT springs on the valves.
My issue is that I first ordered new cam bearings from Clevite but they where no good, I was told it was race bearings, but it was OEM Direct Replacement and my engine builder was not happy with them. So now I'm ordering Dura-Bond CHP-23T cam bearings. Does anyone know if they are good bearings?
Also my builder wanted to know if I have any information about reccomended clearance between cam and bearings, so I wanted to ask here, does anyone know reccomended bearing clearance on the cam?
We had a lot of trouble turning the cam in #3 bearing with the Clevite ones.
Do anyone have any tips?

Search the treads on here and you will find some recent posts that may help.
I remember guys saying they were working the cam bearings with scotch bright to get the cam to turn by hand.
There were a few recomendations for style and brand of cam bearing.
If you want to come to the states and race a TA-2 car give me a ping.
Regards
