What is the Max bore/stroke for a LQ4?
I looking into building a motor for my 02 Camaro. The goal for the motor is to have a Whipple 2.9 super charger on it. I would like the largest displacement I can safely achieve. I looking into the LQ4 because they are fairly common and afforable compared to the LS2/3.
Any input would be appreciated.

Because you are going with a blower. Bore it .030 and put a 3.900 crank in it. It will let you put a good piston in the bore for boost and give some stability when the piston hits BDC compared to using a 4.000 stroke.
It will net you a 390 cube motor this is the motor AES racing makes in their 390 setup.

You won't notice a few extra cubes here and there, especially now with a 2.9 whipple on top.
On a high strung N/A application sure you might see a bit more torque in a 408 vs. 364, but with all that insta-boost from the twin screw you won't miss the extra torque down low that a bigger cube motor might make.
Like silverbullet said before, a 390 is probably your best bet if you really care about the cubes. Although depending on how much boost you plan on pushing though this you might even be better off with a smaller setup like a 366-370.

Yeah, but I saw a chick a couple of days ago with a T-shirt with a new twist:
It's not the size of the boat or the motion of the ocean...but whether or not the captain can stay in port long enough for the passenger to get off".
