cool build! any reason you went with an LS7 block rather than having current block sleeved???

guess just thinking theyre about the same price...but i know the aftermarket sleeves are tougher, and you dont have to deal with any different covers or sensors....

Too many unknowns for me to guess. I would however like to break into the 10's at the dragstrip

The current block along with the rest of the motor is going into my 2010 wrangler replacing a rather anemic v6. I went with the block because it's a Corvette Z06 and as such it should have a LS7 block

I hope so. It's been 20 years since I have built a hotrod - man has technology changed in that time.

Why aren't you using LS7 heads on it?

understandable...guess when i was researching going to 4.125+ bore...it would be cheaper to go with erl and stronger, also due to the sensors and cover differences....

also, ^^^ im with him, why LS3 heads over LS7 heads? or some big dawg cathedrals??

I'm definitly interested in seeing how these heads perform. I wonder how they would do against some tfs 245's? Either way its gonna be a beast!! Very nice!

I probably would have but I had a set of trick flows on my last build - okay that was 15 years ago - and they were quality pieces that performed very very well on a sbc 406. Secondly they returned every one of my emails to them with questions answered.

Well too the block was the first item I purchased and I did so before doing much research.. it was kind of an impulse buy to jump start the project. To that end it has worked flawlessly.

In addition to what I just wrote why LS3 vs LS7 - someone has to check these things out

Good question.. according to tfs flow charts the LS3's outflow the 245's on the intake by a little bit after .300 lift - on the exhaust the 245's take the win. But it isn't apples to apples as the LS3's were flow tested with a 4.065 bore where the 245's were flowed on a 4.125 bore.

And thank you - hope it all works out this stuff ain't cheap!

Have not had a chance to take any as of yet - been on my list to do for sure.

Just got a shipping notice that the heads shipped today can't wait to see them.

You might be happier worth a cam about 10-12 degrees less if this is a street car. Not that you can't run this big a cam, but you might find that the drivability improvements are worth the small gain in peak HP that it brings to the table.

What would really make me happy would be if someone made a pcm with jets air bleeds and power valves. As it is I'm gonna have to learn how to make this thing drivable with a damn computer instead of a screwdriver

I have a 440 with a cam that's actually got a little more duration, little less lift, and I'm amazed at how well it drives. I'll drive it anywhere and never had a problem.

Looking forward to seeing what kind of power these LS3 heads make.

I went from the MN12 trans with 3.42 rear to a MN6 with custom 5th and 6th with 3.73 rear. One of the best decisions I've ever made. Just something to consider.
