VVT Delete on LY6 and L96
I tried asking this on the carbed site but got no feed back.
To delete the VVT on a LY6 I always heard that you have to replace the front cover with an LS2 cover and timing chain.
Then I saw somewhere(but cannot find it now) that you can use the stock LY6 setup and it will revert to locked in position mode and act just like a stock fixed timing setup.
Anyone here know what is true?
I'm putting a ZO6 cam into an LY6 with a carb and MSD 6012 and it would be neat if I didn't have to change out the drive and cover.
Also would it also work on a L96 which has VVT and DOD?
Thanks

The Z06 cam is a 3 bolt cam design and the VVT phaser is a single bolt design. You can machine a physical lock out for the phaser to keep it from moving the cam but you would need to use a VVT camshaft to accommodate the oil valve/ bolt. We now offer a VVT delete for 3 bolt cams that comes with the cover, gear and cam bolts needed to do the swap. Be sure to check the Suggested Parts tab on that link if you need gaskets or valve spring kit.
