Throwing Cam Position Codes. LS2 timing setup
Ok here's my problem. Last year I put in a 408 with LS2 cam position sensor and timing chain. I ordered the extension harness, which was supposed to swap the end wires. It did not so I swapped the pins in the LS2 harness and everything worked great for ~500 miles and 4-5 months until I put the car away for the winter. I double checked the wiring and everything is fine. Check voltage and continuity and it was fine. I checked the cam bolts and also verified that I have the correct cam gear. At this time I performed a cam swap since I am going turbo. Now after the cam swap it still threw code, which I knew it would. I drove the car for a little while and the codes went away (I'm guessing it read that it had x number of normal starts) until the other day when the codes came back. I'm not sure what else to check or do besides getting a new sensor. I don't want to spend $60 bucks on a new sensor if something else could be the problem. The codes P0341 and P0342. Any other ideas before I try a new sensor? It just doesnt make sense to me that it will work and start fine 15-20 times in a row without a backfire, the code will clear, but then come back...
I swapped the two wires on the harness that is on the front of the timing cover. It worked fine all last year and didnt start giving me problems until i took it out of winter storage.
Check the wiring back to the computer. Wire could be pinched somewhere.
After that you would have to check the cam wheel and make sure the bolts aren't backing out.

I'll have to try and follow the wires back to the pcm, but I haven't had one problem with starting the car. I thought I would get some backfires or mis starts, but I haven't had any. I did check the cam bolts, which were all still tight and while I had the front cover off I swapped to a more turbo friendly cam and made sure I used loctite on the bolts. Just need to figure out this wiring.
