Default What would you do?

So this is my first post. Let me preface this by saying that I'm an LS idiot. Since you guys seem like the right guys to ask technical questions to, I'm going to dive right in. This is my FIRST engine build......I've done jet engines (I'm an aircraft mechanic) but never tore down a vehicle engine.

Background: I'm building a rockcrawler, chassis is done. Powerplant is going together. I got a L92 from a 2008 Escalade and a 6l80 with 90K miles on it. I started to clean up the engine, removing accessories and I removed the intake since my plan is to use a LS3 intake (not as tall).

Where I'm going: I want a mildly built RELIABLE engine. There is nothing worse than a non-running engine 35 miles from the nearest town. My plan so far is the LS3 intake, headers, and a VVT HO cam from Mast motorsports.

My questions:
1. Intake is off, cam is comming out, springs will be replaced for the cam swap. Is there anything else I should be doing while the engine is tore down this far? (ie. Head gaskets/studs, timing chain, etc)?

2. What accessories would you just replace (they have 90k miles on them) and which would you keep? PS pump? Waterpump? Alternator? (a/c is being removed)?

3. I think there were some problems with the PCV system because there was some oil in the intake I removed. I did a search but found nothing specific to L92s, whats the fix for this?

4. The engine might have injested a fair amount of oil from the soot in the intake portions of the head (pic below) and the white exhaust valves. Whats the best way to clean this out? Is this normal? What would you do?-intake.jpg

What would you do?-exhaust.jpg

5. As you can see the aluminum block is pretty corroded from the miles, any easy way to take this off besides long hours with a dotco and some roloc scotchbrite pads?

6. What else would you do? (keep in mind this is going in an offroad vehicle, not a race car)

I taped off my long-block and glass beaded it inside a plastic tent in my driveway. Took less than 2 hours to get an as-new finish. If you do this, be very sure of your tape job, engine internals don't like glass beads...

Looks to me that someone used engine cleaner on it! How do I know that? Well I used engine cleaner on my ls1 and after I rinsed the engine off it corrode just like that it had the white powder spits all over it.

Yah keep the accessories, no reason to change them if they still work and they are easy enough to replace as they go out. I have 180k miles on my ls1 accessories and I'm putting them all on my new motor I'm building. U might wanna replace the idler and tension pulleys or atleast open them up and relube them but that's ill I'd do
