ls1 to ls3 conversion info
Hi all I'm replacing my ls1 with a ls3 retaining all the ls1 loom and computer in my holden commodore which is the same as a Pontiac gto but has 4 doors
I think I have most of the basics covered but there is a couple of details you'll may be able to help me with.
I have to
-change the sump and pickup to the ls1 front hump style.
-change the reluctor wheel on crank from 58 to 24
-change the injector plugs
-extend the cam sensor wires to reach the timing cover
-extend the knock sensor wires to reach each side of the block
-replace the FBW TB with cable style one
- change the cam wheel to a early ls2 type one now this is where I get a little lost I can only seem to find 3 bolt style cam wheels in that configuration so do I need to change cam aswell or does a company make a single bolt cam wheel with the early ls2 2x configuration as id like to keep the standard camshaft any help would be appreciated thanks.

You need to swap wires A and C in the cam plug if you go from LS1 top cam sensor to LS2 front cam sensor. They read backwards. MSD also makes a crank converter box so there is no need to swap things out.

its Lingenfelter isn't it? didn't know msd also had the 58x converter,
if you use the box you also don't need to swap the cam sensor.
i am swapping a 58x motor also but i plan on swapping the reluctor, and using ls2 front gear.. don't like the idea of the add on box as i read it adds to the cranking time and its just another thing to go wrong..

Dont forget about the MAP sensor. On the ls3 it mounts on the front of the intake. Some of the sponsors sell wiring extentions and i just used a ls1 style map sensor and i put a tiny bit of rtv on the neck of the sensor so it stays in the intake. Tuner says that the sensor work properly and it was easy to do. Also Nick Williams makes a nice 90 or 102 TB thats drive by cable and they make a cble mount to mount ur throttle wire to. I use the 90m on my stock ls3 intake.
