Default Have motor open, have questions.

Have a 2007 LMG 5.3 open for replacing failed DOD lifter(s). Ordered the TSP DOD delete kit for a G8 GT off the top of my head not thinking much of it (used to ordering parts for LS2/L76 now) and not paying any attention to the contents.

QUESTION 1:

We're replacing the DOD lifters with standard LS7 lifters. Are there going to be problems with using the stock cam? The ECM is tuned with the DOD off, all the other kit hardware will be going in as well.

QUESTION 2:

I noticed this kit came with the LS3 head gaskets. I assume these won't work for a standard LMG 5.3 with the stock heads, right?

This engine is in a daily driver Yukon and we are not looking to hot rod it (too much). Thanks for your time guys.

Cam should be fine. You'll just be running on all the lobes, full time...but you're tuned for that already. You're just removing the capability to deactivate.

Also, LS3 head gaskets are for 4.00"-4.080" bores. You'll need different head gaskets.

I have a set of pull-out LS3/7 lifters sitting on the shelf if you want 'em.

A stock DoD cam will cause misfires with standard lifters, lots of threads about that. And a LS3 gasket bore is way too large for a 5.3.
