Default Adding heads. Swap cam?

I'm going to replace the stock heads on my 2010 Camaro LS3 and I'm wondering if swapping my current cam, (227/235 .614/.623 114+4), would make sense HP/TQ wise. I was thinking of going with the TFS GenX 255 heads, but they aren't getting much love on camaro5.com.

Considering the following, should I go with a different cam to maximize HP/TQ gains with aftermarket heads? I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to decisions like this, so any input is appreciated.

* my budget, including install, should be around 4 – 5 K
* interested in torque, don’t care about top end speed
* surging at low rpms is not a concern
* weekend car, no track

Current set-up: CAI, FAST intake, Nick Williams TB, Kooks w/hi-flow cats, Melling oil pump, TSP underdrive pulley, LPE 3:91 gears, suspension upgrades, Magnaflow catback, QTP cutouts, MGW short throw.

If you can swing it, do aftermarket heads, cam and headers. It will really wake up that engine. Everyone has their own choices of cams, so you can call someone like Comp cams for help with your set up.
I have a set of Texas Speed cnc ported heads on my GTO and comp cams, with Kooks headers. TSP has complete kits ready for your car and they can help you get to where you want to be. Of course this is just my suggestion

First thing I would do is to not listen to them douches on camaro5. Any time some idiot on there says that to not give people a jump with your Gen 5 camaro because your PCM calibration will get confused with the other car you jumping off, needs to jump off a cliff and not touch a car again.

Second, I don't see why a set of the new TFS LS3 heads would be a bad choice. Those heads with a cam to maximize their potential would make a monster of a setup. Even with the cam you have, it should perform well with those heads.

He has already stated that he already has headers and a cam. I don't see absolutely anything at all with upgrading the heads. I'm sure the TFS 255's are good heads there just aren't many people running them yet so there isn't that much info out there on them. Even with the cam you already have it should definitely pick up power and even more so with a custom cam to optimize your setup.

That cam would be perfectly fine for your setup and producing mid range torque and power. It won't make the top end HP as a bigger cam, but it will still perform very well.

If you want to squeeze out every single HP while sacrificing some torque, go with a bigger custom cam. Personally I wouldn't bother for a few extra HP you might get.
