Cam Swap 5.3
I recently bought a 08 1500 with a 5.3 got it for cheap because my buddy went though the process to put the DOD/AFM delete kit on it. He didn't brother to change the cam so it doesn't run right. Is there a way to change the cam with out having to pull the heads back off to get the lifters out?

Rotate cam to ensure all lifters are up, insert dowel rods into pre-existing holes in the front of the block. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...oolpics035.jpg
Factory LS3 cam should work just fine. Make sure to note the cam bolt count of both cams. Your 5.3 cam may possibly be a 3 bolt, and the LS3 is likely a 1 bolt. You would need to convert your cam sprocket to a single bolt style. Also, make sure to determine whether or not the 5.3 has VVT.
I would upgrade to the inexpensive "LS6" lifters from GM just to be on the safe side since you are running a 1.8 rocker.
Feel free to give us a call if you have ANY questions.
