ls2 or lq9?

ls2 or lq9? i currently have an ls1....its stock and getting higher mileage...i want too start modding but want to do it on something a littler younger. the options the im looking at are to build an lq9 (because its a more budget friendly option) or buy an ls2 from my buddy and build slowly on that. he is selling the ls2 complete with 40k miles for 3000$.

Depends on how much spray or boost you plan on throwing on it.
If staying with 14lbs or less or 200 shot or less you should be more than fine even with the aluminum block. Anymore than 900rwhp and you probably need the iron.

Is it a straight line car ? If so the iron block is fine. I like my car to be balanced for fun in the twisties too, so I prefer an aluminum block for the 80 or so LBS off the nose.
