Default New 7.3 Liter 447 CI Forged Stroker motor

Due to illness and a few other reasons I have been off site and off line for a long time. Today is my first day back on here. My 05 GTO has been going through some changes and in November 2013 it went to the shop to get that new Holley Modular Midrise intake manifold installed. On drop off day I sat down with the shops owner and we came up with the idea to really wake up my car. Out came my LS2 and were ordered up a LS2 Based 7.3 liter 447 CI forged stroker. We also added that new Holley Modular Midrise intake and we removed the P1 Procharger and ordered a F1 Procharger and tons of supporting parts including a multi stage fuel system and 120LB fuel injectors. The Motor was built in house and the parts starting going together in early December. The stock hood would no longer fit due to the taller intake manifold so I ordered a Cowl Induction unit, When it arrived I did not like the way it looks. The lines of the hood just does not flow well with the lines of the car. Lucky for me the shop owner had the hood from an 04 GOAT sitting unused in his shop. It came off of his car which by luck just happend to be another Yellow Jacket. Once the new hood was mounted he carefully cut out a small section near the center to allow my new intake to have the needed clearence . Part of the new intake is now visable when the hood is closed and i really like it. Kind of a Old School look when a car with a big blower or Tunnel Ram intake would cruise the streets with part of the motor exposed . The car is 100% completed and has been since the very begining of this year. My new motor set up is now producing slightly over 800 HP and 800 Ft pounds of TQ on Very mild boost [ 13 PSI ] With 3 smaller sized pulleys still available to install there is still a lot of HP sitting inside waiting to be released. I need to get a few more miles on it before it will go back on the Dyno for a little wake up call. It is one SICK ride.

I was very surprised on how nice and straight it tracks. Have not driven it hard yet . The Winter in CT does not want to go away and the Roads still have a lot of debris on them.

My car needs to update the tune a little. When it was on the Dyno the new motor only had around 50 break in miles on it and it was shut down at 5500RPMs. Not sure what it will make when we run it up to around 6500.
I did take it out for a short ride about two weeks ago and I receive a few THUMBS UP from people that noticed the intake poking its head out of the hood.

When the motor was being assembled I stopped at the shop a few times to check on the progress. I noticed something I have never seen before and I am nnot sure if it is common or not. This motor has 6 Main Cap bolts. There are 4 on each cap under the oil pan but there are one more on each side of the engine block. The bolt goes through the block and screws in to the main cap from the side.

JJD,

Nice ride man. Also, I'm pretty sure all LS blocks have 6 bolt mains.

Thanks everyone, thanks for the positive comments. I took it for a short ride yesterday. Just trying to get some easy miles on it. The wind did a good job of blowing a lot of the sand , salt and other Winter Debris off the road. Those of you that are familure with Connecticut know about the Merrit and Wilbur Cross Parkway. Very nice 2 lane road that runs from around Meriden CT all the way South to the New York State line. That is the road I traveled yesterday. I did get my fair share of younger Mustang owners that tried their best to try to take a shot at getting me to run. I just politely waved them off. The one big annoyance was a late model Honda owner and his tuner car. You know the one I am talking about. They drain the fluid from their front shocks or struts so the car would quickly have the nose jump up when they got on the gas, These cars also usually have a wing on the back that stands above the roof line. I had one of these cars on my tail for about 10 miles without backing off. I pulled over at a rest stop and he followed me in. He walked over to my car with a stack of dollar bills in his hand and asked if I wanted to race his car for his cash. He claimed to be pushing 950 HP but when I asked to see his motor and open the trunk , THERE WAS NOTHING THERE, NO TURBO, NO NITROUS , NOTHING BUT a dirty , greasy engine bay along with a weak sounding motor..

I just looked at him and said, SAVE YOUR MONEY and take your kids to Mickey Ds. [ he had 2 small kids in the back seat ].

There are ******** everywhere.

JJD - What bore and stroke does your motor have to arrive at 447 ci? Just curious...you're making excellent power with more on the table. Subscribing to see your final dyno results!

Very nice car.

I had a guy in New Jersey in a VW golf pull up next to me in a Wendy's parking lot and asked if I wanted to race for pinks. I couldn't help but think to myself "this people actually take that show seriously?" Now granted I am no where close to the power you are but still....... This was around 2005 when pinks was somewhat popular. All I could think was that the kid was going to lead me to some abandoned area and shoot me for the keys. Not the nicest area. Was outside of Camden. Pretty sure the extent of mods was lowpro tires and a fart cannon. Certainly was no NO2 or turbo. Some folks just don't know what they are getting themselves into.

I doubt if I will increase the boost to gain more power. Its getting to the point of Over kill as it is. With its dyno tune being shut down at 5,500 because of the new motor just spinning up to around 6,500 RPMs at the next dyno run will end up with even higher numbers. I am thinking it will settle in at around 900

HA.HA. Thanks. I did get it out for a short run a few days ago. Had the pleasure of beating up on a 2014 Stingray whos owner was claiming no street car could touch his. We took off from around a 45 MPH roll. he was ROAD KILL. ..

That will be crazy once you get it dialed in.

The low end torque must just be stupid fun.
