bee hive spring mic

Does anyone know which valve spring mic works the best. I've heard folks saying some do not work as well due to a step that is machined in the retainer for the bee hive spring?

The one made by Comp Cams specifically for beehive springs works great for LS engines. I can't find the part number right now, I'll try to find it when I get to the shop.
