Default 6.2L Block deck machining??

I got a 2010 6.2L that I just got back from the machine shop that got fitted for 4.070" Malhe pistons and I just noticed there was a mark on the deck of the block... I am worried cause it is between 2 cylinders and it is pretty deep. Can these blocks be decked? I am putting in a STP stage 2 VVT cam with a comp cam limiter as well....
What do you guys think??

That doesn't look good to me... It bridges the combustion chamber and the water jacket. How did they damage it? Take it back to the machine shop and see what they can do. They can deck it, but will probably charge you for it even though they probably did it.

At this point I'm just worried about how much they can take off.. I can't find any info on how much the deck can be machined...

It depends on the current deck height and how far the pistons are out now. They can mock it up and measure how far in or out of the hole the piston is, and considering the head gasket thickness, can determine how much to mill. Hopefully that will clean up without having to go to a thicker aftermarket gasket.

Im guessing that will clean up at .020" and that is ok,you can mill them way more then that just like KCS points out your quench might be to little with oem .051 gasket

I don't know all the ins and outs, but it looks like someone could use a tig to fill that back in before it gets decked.

Don't waste your money. That might not be enough and you will end up paying to machine it again.

Well considering that I'm pretty sure that it happened at their shop I'm hoping they machine it for free...

My point is if you tell them to machine it .005" and it doesn't clean up, it will have to be machined again. Who do you think will pay for it the second time after machining it to your request the first time?

But go ahead and do it your way. Checking the piston deck height before milling is just a waste of time anyways. It's not like it will tell you how much you can mill, or help you determine what head gasket to use, or set your quench distance with.

I sense some sarcasm in there....

I agree with this. It is a small spot to be filled.
