L76 DOD system. How to tell if it's been removed?

Default L76 DOD system. How to tell if it's been removed?

I just picked up a 2009 pontiac g8 gt that has a cam. i am trying to find out if the DOD system has been removed. I no paper work on whats been done to it so i am trying to find out on my own.

One thing would be the valley pan. If it's smooth on top then DoD is removed. The DoD valley cover has visible pathways for oil on top.

That is what I was thinking. The valley cover would be the clue.

IIRC, the cover can still be a DOD version. The "tell" would be if the DOD lifters had been replaced with standard ones...

While I would assume that if someone when through the effort to install a new cam then they would have also mechanically eliminated AFM, I suppose it's possible that they wouldn't have.

true the cover is not a good way to tell.
