Default 427 build my combination ..... Opinions

Iam not after a large HP, drivability and smoothness are my goal, aiming for a 35 KPA idle, Ive got a 427 ls7 block, callies forged internals, boost friendly 9.5.1 comp, trickflow 255 heads, looking at a 213/223 117 lsa 600 lift cam, 1 7/8 long tubes and topped off with an eldelbrock e force charger at 10 pound boost, M6, and 3.70 diff in a GTO, what HP will i make at the treads?

Since this already sounds like a pricy build u would probably benefit from resleeving the block with darton sleeves. You could then go up on the boost if you wanted.

Then why not just go n/a? You can make over 600rwhp with a good set up

To get 600rwhp i would require largish cam, iam not a fan of big cams, thats why i chose the profile i mentioned and then go boost to get more HP, whilest having awesome drivability from my small cam

Just build a 454+ engine and call it a day, enough said. Cheaper than what dream set-up your thinking of and pretty darn simple. You want me 2 show you how.
454+ci. short block ERL/LSX/RHS your choice.
Chris Frank RHS LS7 heads
Mars @ Tick HYD roller. You can fill in the rest.
and everything you asked was answered. Cheaper than the idea of a 8000 dollar long block and 6grand S/C. thats a ball park figure. Tuning is also required 1000.oo bucks

call Martin or Pat G. on the cam specs.... but 114-116 lsa is a start. Think about Mr. Tooleys 454 720hp or Tony Mamo's 454 745hp set-up. So think 240 - 250ish on the intake duration @ .050.

Need something a little larger than a 213/223 IMO. A 427 with a 4" stroke will soak up a large amount of overlap and drive very well. That said, your combination doesn't need a lot of overlap due to having a supercharger.

As far as 35kpa at idle, I am not even so sure that the stock camshaft can attain that kind of vacuum. TMK most stock camshafts idle in the very low 40kpa range, high 30 kpa range depending on idle RPM.

I would need to know more about your combination to spec a cam, but I would be more than happy to do so. If you'd like you can email me and I will get you a spec sheet to fill out.

OP, the stock LS7 cam is larger than what you are specing. It's 211/230 on a 121 LSA.

The items you suggested for the 454cid build will eclipse $8000 for just the short block without even blinking an eye....the ERL short block alone is around 6k.....tuning cost is going to be about the same regardless of the set up...getting 600rwhp from an N/A set up will not be cheap....plain and simple...

While 8 grand sounds like a lot try factoring in F/I that's 6 grand plus so now we have 14 thousand in a build that will be missing thing such as all acessories AKA: power steering/water pump/ ECU & harness/ injectors, I can go on. I can get a LS3 block and Eagle bottom end cheaper than many think. 4.065 bore 4.100 crank = 427
Look up SDPC 427 LS3 short block. When building a engine budget is ALWAYS the limiting factor. Dry sleeve blocks from ERL are cheaper than the Super Deck 1or 2 blocks done by ERL. I don't buy anything put together that is where shops make there Money. I'm not rich so, Callies is out & Eagle is in! 1500 vs 850 cash. Money saved, some would have most think different ......ONLY BY HEAR SAY. So 8grand is now out as well.

Eagle 4.125 crank 6.125 rods
JE new style piston Total seal rings
bearings / studs...$5500 more or less but close for a 454
8 grand Ha Ha Ha ..... SOUNDS LIKE RUBBISH TO ME.
600rwhp..zO6 427 Vengence combos do it all the time...

You get what you pay for
Callies worlds better than Eagle
Long stroke motors that may see some rpm you need the best stuff period imo.

After hours of my personal research it'll be hard to pass up a 235 trickflow head... looking at dyno sheets the rectangle port heads seem to make the same torque as a cathedral head BUT at 2000 rpm later
