IMO, a nasty high rpm motor can be less fun than a wide powerband motor 80% of the time on the street. Good luck.

This is kinda why I put a huge cathedral head over a square port on this type of build. You find a great powerband and a very responsive motor with a cathedral head over a rectangle. I've owned both..... I'm now running a rectangle head.

Pm Tony Mamo. He has some really great heads coming out. I wouldn't make a decision until talking to him first.

TFS LS7 & 102 FAST, Better yet hopefully MSD Intake will get you
To 600+ RWHP W/ ~238* .650 / ~246* .630 (114-115 LSA +3-4 ADV)
with~ 420-440 lb ft @ 2500 RPM,~540 lb ft @ ~ 5200 and ~620 RWHP by
6500 RPM W/ 11.5:1 Comp 434
to reach 600 RWHP W/ any Cathedral will take ~12-15* more intake
And exhaust duration due to the fact of the cathedral intake choking
30-40 CFM per runner. How will low rpm throttle response be W/
250+ intake duration and 6-8* more exhaust duration from 2-4K
Be?
Check out WKMD Gentleman Cruiser build 575 RWHP @ 6200RPM
530 RW lb ft @ 5200 w/ 420 @ 2200RPM W/ WCCH L92s!
A small cam not much bigger then 234/240 (don't know exactly)
in a C5. TFS LS7 flow much better and are smaller ports and the
Fast LS7 102 flows better then the LS3 Fast also.

I don't think anyone has found the definite root cause, but replacing the guides and exhaust valves and performing the necessary machining operations (hone guides and valve job) seems to fix the problems.

I had a customer that had the worn guides in his LS7, but the valves hadn't dropped and there wasn't any major damage. We put in bronze guides and Manley exhaust valves, cut the valvejob and ported the heads, and it's been fine since then.

Unfortunately my finances aren't going to allow me to sleeve the LS2 block. I've decided to punch it out to 4.030" and throw my stroker kit in it. I can't decide which pistons to get tho. I'm stuck between Manley -4cc flat tops (592630C-8) for 600.00 or Wiseco -3cc dome's (K464X3) for 728.00. Trying to research what is the better piston.
As for heads I'm thinking about going with the TFS/TEA 225's or 235's. Leaning towards the 235's for growth potential unless it's going to make my combo run like dogshit or I run across a deal on 225's I can't pass up. I'll be using the MSD air force intake with a holley 105 tapered TB and most likely a 235/245 .640/.649 111 cam. Seems to be a proven cam with TFS 225's on 6.0's. I'm thinking with the 408 it should do even better...especially on a street car.
My funds can make this happen so I can't go anymore exotic on the heads.

Anyone see any potential problems? Advice or recommendations?

I know what you mean about money..... well the best PROVEN setup I have seen ran a LQ block 402ci..... With AFR heads. Car went 10s on 17s with 6 speed naturally aspirated. If interested more into that combo I'll share the link ;-)

No problem. Here you go. Great link to one of the baddest n/a 6 speed cars I've seen posted on tech.

I would definitely go TFS 235s or AFR 230s from Tony,
On any Bore under 4.060.
Check out the 347 W/ 215s and a small cam results in the
Gen3 Internal section

I ended up going with TEA/TFS 235's with PM guides and hollow intake valves and PAC .660 springs with Ti Retainers. 65cc Chambers.
