Oil pick up clearance?

Oil pick up clearance? So i'm fitting my custom 7qt pan on the LSX and want to be sure i have the pick up tube clearance'd correctly.
I stacked up some thick washer's to 3/8" tall and taped them to the pick up bottom then rubbed some grease on the top of them sit the gasket on the block and sit the pan on then tweaked the pick up until it just leaves grease on the pan so i should have 3/8" clearance maybe a tad less for gasket compression sound good?

That's what I do, 1/4" to 3/8".
I prefer to tape up the face of the pickup and use two pieces of clay at the front and rear of the pickup. I put a little oil on the clay so it doesn't stick to the pan, and then measure both pieces.
