bought used 821 heads. have a couple questions
so i bought some 821 heads. just got here today. bought from somebody on facebook not from here.
so i think i got 2 different heads. was told they only had 15k miles on them and they worked great when pulled off 2010 vette. only took off cause he went with trick flows.
obvious difference in combustion chamber. 1 head is noticeably more carbon/darker looking.
1 head has stock looking valve springs and other has yellow springs.
1 heads rocker arm bolt threads seem to be messed up on the head. no bolt will screw in easily.
and on underside where its stamped 6.2 ,next to it is a 08 and other head is 09.is that the years??
also on the worse looking head there is a small ding on edge of combustion chamber . i dont think it would effect anything.
i know its obvious i got heads from 2 different motors. but im putting in different springs anyways. the rocker arm bolt thread can prob be easily fixed right?
you think i should get ahold of this guy and try to return or does it matter?
whats your guys opinion

It looks like something had bounced around in that chamber. Are you even sure that you got the LS3 valves and not the two-piece L92s?
I'd contact the guy and call him on his bullshit.

He thinks something happened during shipping. I didn't know there is difference in valves. I ll have to find out how to tell.
He is willing to refund me.
Do u think that head is junk or is workable? I plane on changing springs and having them resurfaced/cleaned up anyways.

They'll be fine. Once you surface that head, the little ding will probably disappear. If not, it probably won't make much of a difference anyways.
The LS3 heads do come with better hollow stem intake valves. They're fully machined whereas the solid stem valves look cast on the head.

the head with yellow springs has longer intake valve stem length. the height of the valve stem above the retainer is visible longer.
is it ok to run one head with these valves ? i really dont want to have to buy different valves and possibly valve job then.
