I just bought an LS engine, was told it is a 2008 5.3 block, 2002 Z06 cam, 243 heads with 3 angle valve job, Z06 valve springs, milled 025, LS6 intake, TB, injectors and Holley fuel rails. Block casting number is 12576178 4.8/5.3 IV, Camaro water pump and Harmonic balancer. Looking for a stand alone set up for my 78 Firebird with a TH350 trans. Cannot feel a ridge in the cylinder thru the spark plug opening. Did I get a 4.8? Is this combo worth going on?

Since you have the head off, does it have flat top pistons? If so, and they are stock, it's a 4.8.

Did not have the heads off, did the pick down the spark plug hole trick! The previous owner did the build from corvette and Camaro parts. It looks like I was given wrong info on the block. Can anyone tell me if this combo can make decent power?

Was told it's a 5.3, block is iron, will do a search on L33, thanks Axe.
