Default 2010 block for 2009

I spun a rod bearing on my 09 silverado, a buddy of mine bought a 2010 5.3 for the heads and is willing to give me a good price on the bottom end. Can I use the this block? I know the 2010's have the vvt added so must i swap the timimg components from my 09 block to the 10 block? Is that the only difference? Ive been looking everywhere for this info so any knowledge would be greatly appreciated .

As long as the reluctor wheel tooth count on the crank is the same you are good to go.
