L92 engine milling problem

Default L92 engine milling problem

Hi guys I had rebuild L92 engine

And I need to mill the heads. How much can I mill the heads
I have g6x3 cam
Ls7 lifters
Lunati p.r 7.400
Comp springs 650

Heads number #823

I've seen as much as .100, but those are extreme users. You can theoretically mill up to .050 and not have issues like deck getting to thin or intake alignment.

Most people go .030 and call it a day, however you need to check PTV with that cam and also gonna need new pushrods.

You can flat mill .065 and use 0.045 head gaskets and do check your piston to valve clearance, be ready to fly cut the pistons. you will gain over one point of compression even with the valve relieves.

Be ready to check for your new shorter size push rods or shim your rocker pedestals by as much.

Thanks dude how much do I mill to get 11.0 combrtion ratio or 11.2.

I've gone 100+ on rectangle heads on 2 occasions. Normal plastic manifold fitted and also vic jnr fit as well (they seem to bend a fraction). Ports still aligned. Got up to 11.9:1 on stock pistons, with some flycuts

I decided to mill 0.040 but how about the pushrods length ?
Ls7 lifters
823 heads
G6x3 cam
Head gasket 0.051

Jasser l92 are 10.5 compression and have valve relieve in pistons so no prob with piston to valve clearance and heads are 70 cc combustion chambers so mill 0.030 for 11 to 1 and mill 0,042 for 11.2 to 1 compression.

As above you should have a touch over 11.0:1. technically if heads are off you can measure the cc of the chamber, see how much the pistons stick out of block, measure the valve relief and calculate it exactly.

Think there is a compression calculator in wallace racing

Ls7 lifters have around 60 thou travel. Normally you choose a pushrod that sits in the middle of that travel. If you take 40thou if heads it "may" bottom out lifter. However if you are using an aftermarket cam the base circle might be smaller (eg factory is 1.502", my latest monster solid roller is 1.325"). need to borrow a pushrod length checker and double check it all. includes pushrod length, swipe on valve tip and ptv
