Float pin rod installation direction. I have an 03 LQ4 that I am updating to LS2 rods and pistons. I got the rods and pistons separately, so they were not assembled. Now before the flaming begins I have done several searches to try and find out exactly how they go together. I know the dimple on the piston is the front. But do the nipples on the rods all face one way like the gen III rods, or do the bearing lock tangs go toward the pan rail like an old SBC? I am almost ready to start assembling this thing, and I have yet to find a definitive answer. Thanks for the help.

The picture in the thread above shows the correct way but that is because all the piston/rod assemblies are the same. Left and right orientated the same.
I believe the rods can go in either way and you will be fine with a stock crank.

I saw that thread, but didn't consider that a solid answer. I know how the press pin rods go, because I have those already in the motor. I guess I will take it that it can go either way since the crank has a fillet.
I just looked at my.gen3 stock bottom end. The above pic in the link above is exactly how they go. The flat side of rods face forward.

On a gen4 the big end of the rod side that is widest faces forward.
On the sides there is a machined flat spot where the cap connects to the rod. One is narrow and the opposite side is wider. Widest toward front.
