LS2 Cam Recommendation?

Default LS2 Cam Recommendation?

I recently purchased an LS2/T56 out of a 06 GTO to swap into my C3 Vette. While the engine is out, I want to toss a new cam in it since its easy to do now. It will mostly be for cruising around (no track use planned), but if I put the hammer down, I want to be able to move. I plan on running side pipes for exhaust. Something with a lopey idle preferred. For now its going to stick with the stock 243 heads and ls2 intake. Any thoughts from the cam gods are much appreciated!

Several guys have ran 230/238 cams similar to mine in LS2 engines and had excellent results, I know I couldn't be happier

I would call Cam Motion and ask about a custom 230/238 or maybe their Titan IV 227/232 or Titan V 230/234. Either way they can fix you up.

Trans is a T56 out of a GTO. I was trying to remember what my rear end is, but I cant. Unfortunately the car is an hour away right now.

Thunderstruck...thanks for the suggestion. After doing some looking around, it seems like cam motion is kind of the go to these days for cams in general. Ill have to see what they say. Im glad I have some idea of specs before I go in though, that helps.

If you don't race the car, they might recommend something a little milder. Kip is a big fan of doing more with less in regards to cam size.

I based my recommendation on my personal experience. I have the 230/238 in my LS2 Chevelle and my roommate has the Titan IV in his ls1/t56 trans am. Both cars have a solid power band but remain 100% daily driveable.

Once you get to a certain size with ls cams the gains from going bigger seem to diminish and you just start sacrificing power under the curve for small peak HP gains.

Good to know. I just saw the video you posted of your roommates titan iv just after you installed it. Sounded good. Is your 230/238 a custom grind? What is the lift?

Yes, custom grind: 230/238 .620"/.602" 113+3
