reluctor wheel
reluctor wheel I just bought a 08 ly6 that I am putting into my 2000 camaro. I am going to be using my stock computer, and I am concerned with the reluctor wheel. The motor I have has a 58 tooth reluctor wheel and my computer is setup to run a 24 tooth. I'm gonna take it to my local machine shop to do new bearings and rod bolts. So my question is, will I have any problems pressing the 24 tooth reluctor wheel onto my crank? Is there a key way? If not does it have to go on a certain way? Thanks for any help I've searched and I've come up short on the exact answer I'm looking for. Also I don't want to run the lingenfelter box.

Reluctor wheel positioning Yes, make sure the shop doing the reluctor swap has a tool for positioning the reluctor. A little off and the timing is wrong. A lot off and it won't run and you will have to take it all apart again.
You can make your own tool/fixture or Goodson and others sell a tool (I think Goodson even claims a patent on the one they sell).

BTW - you can put them on backwards too (but you shouldn't).

Katech put my wheel on and it wasnt that expensive. I chose to change wheels as oppossed to using the lingenfeltor box. No problems in 2 years.

Need help with first ever ls swap I didn't know anything about crank reluctor ring so I installed replacement engine not knowing they were different so now I want to know if I can reprogram computer from 54x to 24x
If you use a stand alone like a Holley or a mega squirt you can.
