Default My .10+ LS2 is out of round, need opinions!!

As the title says, my block is currently at the machine shop. Went to have my Compstar crank polished and block honed/line bored. Got a call today saying whoever bored it last time must not have used the torque plates and the cylinders are out of round.

Currently running a Callies Compstar 4" Stroker crank with Wiseco 4.010. He says he could bore another .005 but i'd need a .015 over piston from JE for $8xx.xx. Is it worth it at this point? The car had some terrible cold piston slap and i'd imagine this didn't help. I currently have a 250hp plate kit at home I was looking to install after the Heads/cam but am kinda leaning towards UPP TT setup now. I guess if I needed pistons now would be the time to get get a 9.1:1? Another 5 thou and I'm looking at less than the width of a piece of paper added to each side..is it really that big of a deal with the ls2's if i don't creep past .030? Thanks in advance

The LS 2 sleeves can go .020"-.030" without issue but if you're boosting then you would want the liners to remain thicker for bore/ring stability.
I guess I'm just curious if they are measuring the cylinders with a torque plate installed/quality gaskets/fasteners. Etc.
One of the reasons GM used the threads in block/long bolts was to minimize the barrel distortion. Now I'm not saying that there isn't any change, however I highly doubt it's a .001"-.0015" like old school pull from deck threads .

Also forged Pistons will have cold start skirt noise because of the added bore clearances as well as the centered wrist pin. Factory Pistons specifically have offset pins to quiet the cold start rattle

My alloy 6.0 had a 5thou taper on cylinder 1 and 6thou bow between cyl 2-8. Nothing surprises me

You have to hone these aluminum blocks with the mains torqued and deck plates on both banks, just like the Modular Ford engines. They distort a heck of a lot and you will have poor ring seal and sizing issues if deck plates are not used. Go to another Wiseco K kit piston set at 4.020" and fix it right.
