Default LS1 Sewing Machine Noise? VIDEOS

Long story short: I went to the tuner and he said this noise (almost like a ticking noise, best heard between 1200-2000 rpm with the doors shut and windows up and frequency dependent on RPM) is normal with the LS1. I know they sound like "sewing machines" but I'm not sure if this is what people mean by that or not and there aren't really any good videos of it. If you listen closely you can hear the ticking which almost sounds like background noise but it is coming from the engine bay... sounds like its coming from underneath the manifold/valve cover area. I'm just wondering if this is normal valvetrain noise for a cammed LS1 even though my cam is a baby dick cam.

About said car:
2000 C5 coupe has 54,000 miles and has the ol piston slap when it's cold. Mods are: tpis headers, spec stage 2 clutch, p&p throttle body, granatelli MAF, ls6 intake, blackwing cai, and a small 212/218 .522/.529 comp cam (XR265hr). Everything listed with the exception of the ls6 manifold was on the car when I bought it. On the dyno the car put down 352/346 which I think is pretty low given the mods. On the street however, it runs like a raped ape.

Anyone know if this is the typical sewing machine noise?

Sounds pretty typical. Do a search and do the procedure to find out the preload on the lifters. Even with a mild cam you may need a slightly longer pushrod.
