Default Possible lifter failure? Video inside

This is from my 08 Pontiac GT with a LS3 from a '11 Camaro. It has a cam and BTR dual valve springs. Full exhaust. Engine has about 45k on it and about 40k with the cam and springs. It started squeaking on me and I finally had time to remove the belts to verify it was not an accessory noise. It seems to go away once the engine is warmed up good. Seems like it is coming from the passenger side. What do you think the noise is?

It is hard to hear, but it sounds like a lifter roller starting to fail. If there is "chirping" with the belt off, 9 times out of 10, it is a failing lifter. Check your oil filter for shavings. Also, if you have a magnetic drain plug, check that. What cam is in it?

That video is taken with the accesorie drive belts removed. I think it is coming from cylinder 8 or 6. Tear down happening tonight. Ordered some morel lifters today. It is an EPS cam, BTR 660 springs on it.

Most likely, the lobes on those cylinders will be worn too. Cam will have to come out and either be reground or replaced. Is it a Comp EPS cam or a Cam Motion EPS?

it is a confirmed lifter failure. There is a very small amount of pitting on the lifter roller but I am happy to say no damage to the cam lobe! From first hearing the noise to teardown was a very short time so I think I caught it in time.

As long as you're 100% sure the lobe is perfect...if the lobe has ANY damage on it, it will take out the new lifter in short order. Be sure to roll the motor over, so you can see the entire 360* of the lobe. I'd also replace ALL 16 lifters, not just the bad one. There may be others getting close to failure as well.

Can you post a pic of the bad roller lifter and the lobe?
