Help me Out
The plan is to get it supercharged with an F1-X later in the G8's lifetime, so within the next coming years (hopefully months), I'll be swapping the transmission for a 1500hp rated 4L80E and a full rear end/drivetrain swap to handle the power.
I talked to some guys at my shop and we think that with some good deals, we can get the 427 prepped and installed in-house or a local friend for around $14k. I hate to be the guy that copies other builds, but this one really spoke to me (Supercharged 427 LS Build and Dyno Test).
This will be the template for the 427. I figured for $4k more, why not throw in a new engine spittin' out 615hp to the crank? And that's naturally aspirated.
So here's the whole plan:
Step 1: Get the motor prepped/built/installed within the next few months. ~9.0:1 Compression
Step 2: Work on replacing the transmission (a reputable 1500hp rated tranny isn't cheap). Throw in a transbrake, stall, and trans cooler.
Steap 3: Replace the rear end with a rebuilt Camaro rear end rated for 1400hp. Carbon Fiber driveshaft, Wavetrac Diff, 3.70 Gearing.
Step 4: Probably a new brake setup. I suspect that I'll have to brake at some point. We'll see.
Step 5: Find out what kind of suspension I can run. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions for suspension on a demanding car.
Step 6: The big guns; the Procharger F1X and their 4.5" Race Intercooler if I can get it to fit. If there's a will, there's a way. When all is done, the G8 should be pushing 1300+ crank hp. Hopefully will be running 15-17psi of boost. Would also consider a twin turbo build, but I'm not sure yet.
Step 7: Coming with the Procharger, I'll probably throw in a kit for water-meth injection.
What do you guys think?
That's all that comes to mind for now.
Until next time!
