It may be "Just Another LS3 416 Stroker Build", but, it's MY LS3 416 Stroker Build!

Milestone Schedule: When I get around to it, it'll be done.

Power steering fluid - In
Brake fluid - In, but need to bleed it. Also, I need to put the rear brakes on the proper side. Found out after I had already put fluid in that I had the bleed screws on the bottom. Oops...
Pump - not yet...

I ripped the steering column apart and replaced the hinge pins with oversized units. That actually got rid of most of the lovely Camaro "death wobble" in the column.

Watch out moving the column around during disassembly or this can happen. Luckily I found all of the ball bearings and it went right back together.

I have two videos showing the before and after difference in the wobble, but, I'm going to have to look up how to insert videos.

Probably the easiest way to upload video, is to just put it on YouTube and post the link. I am interested to see how substantial the difference is.
I also have heard that the new oversize pins will themselves loosen over time, so I wonder if some type of fastener could be tapped into the boundry between metal pin and aluminum column, to preemptively lock things in place before it becomes an issue again.

Wow. Yours was really bad. Mine moves maybe half that much. I think I would be scared to drive if the wheel was that loose. Impressive improvement afterwards for sure. I'll bet that just that change will make it feel like you swapped in a Porsche 911 GT3 rack, by way of contrast. Thanks!

It was definitely an, um, experience to drive it. Especially at highway speeds...

On a side note - between updates - come to find out the emergency room didn't actually remove the metal from my eye. They actually pushed it below the surface. Fortunately, I lucked out and it popped back to the surface. I went to have it removed (again) and while drilling it, I heard a guy who had been an ophthalmologist for over 20 years say "well, I've never seen this before"! Part of the rust ring/scar tissue broke of and slipped under the cornea and lodged into the flap where I has lasik surgery done 17 years ago! Two days later I ended up in a cornea specialist's office in Louisiana to get cut into (yet again) to finish removing the metal I have had in my eye for @ a month.
This has been a friendly public service reminder to always wear FULLY ENCLOSED GOGGLES while grinding!!

I'm sorry man, that sucks. I got acetone in my eyes once, when a dispenser tank pump malfunctioned (went right around my prescription glasses). If you know what alcohol feels like in an open wound, just imagine that x10--in your eyes. I immediately flushed my eyes at an eyewash station. The acetone container says to seek immediate medical attention, and I was afraid I'd lose my vision, so I had to get my eyes flushed with these tiny tubes at the emergency room--which turned out to be more painful than the acetone (WTF?!). But all of that sounds like a day at the beach compared to what you went through. (My vision is fine, BTW. Hope yours is back to normal soon.)

Not sure why one guy would have three trashed fuel pump buckets.

We'll ask the guy he sold it to, since he's parted the car...

But seriously, I brought my laptop to work so we can load a tune on his car this evening. He got a tune from a guy on here with a very similar setup, should work nicely for getting him started. He's been blaming me for not getting his car going, as though the heap of parts all over the shop and the two-page checklist of things to do have nothing to do with that car running lol!

Alright, I must say, the guys got fight in him... I showed up after work and we worked the tune he had into the pcm. After we got that set, the poor guy fought the most mysterious fuel pressure issue. Forgive me, sid, I'm pulling a Dylan here and telling the story...
Yeah, after breaking the system at a few different places, we finally figured out that special fuel line that racetronix recommends for in-tank service is practically rubber tissue paper, and he had split it wide open.
At that point, it was hot and I suggested we address it tomorrow. Nope, he found some random *** 5/8 hose and took the bucket out to replace it. Meanwhile, David found his map was FUBAR and we took the one from my hombre. And as if that wasn't enough, he couldn't register oil psi while cranking. But we concluded he's getting oil, it's just not cranking faster than 100rpm.
And as if I didn't tell him to quit and drink beer at this point, we discovered he wasnt getting a fuel pulse at the Injector due to some crappy ebay pigtails. Not his fault, screw you, ebay seller.
So we know what it will take, hopefully my wife let's me go play tomorrow and maybe we can hear this beautiful song he's worked so hard to compose.
Oh, and sid, oil psi sender goes on the regulated side, dumbass :-p

Well! I see what my friends have been up to while I've been off the site for a while...
Gotta love it!?
Sorry it's been a while guys. I actually got on here twice to update the thread. Both times I spent about an hour doing a write up and each time, when I clicked the post button, it erased the whole dang thing. Needless to say, I got a little frustrated. I'll try it again in a couple of smaller posts.
As you have now heard though, we are at the initial firing up phase... and there are issues. $22/ft fuel hose split in under 30 secs, fuel injector pigtails had the wire broken in 13 out of 16 connections, bad MAP sensor, another broken plug wire on #8. All of which we fixed. We can get it fired up for a few seconds (which sounds mean as heck by the way) and it either backfires bad a time of two and stalls or it stalls out within 10 seconds. I was given the tune by a guy on this site who has about 90% the same set up as I have and it is a dyno tuned tune. I want to say this now - he did me a favor and hooked me up, this is nothing on him! The problem is, is that both David (locospl) and Loren have been looking at the tune and scratching their heads at several of the inputs. I don't think it is going to work for me and I'm going to have to order a mail order tune to get this thing fired up properly.

My second wife cost me a '73 Mustang Grande build. I had to store it at my father's house in GA. I had welded in a new floorpan and full back clip on it and had a new Mach 1 hood on it. My dad told me to pick it up for over a year, he needed it gone. Issues with wife caused me not to be able to get it. He sold it to the junkyard for less than what the hood cost. Did I mention there is still about 5K in parts in his shed and that it ran?

While I'm here on the computer I'll try a down and dirty "catch you up" update.
I'll lead with wiring. Good lord at the wiring! By the way, I can't stand wiring. I finished up the wiring for the automatic, to include getting the shiftlock solenoid to work properly. The fuel bucket is installed and the wiring for the secondary fuel pump is complete. Line lock is functional also. Fuel pressure, trans temp, and wideband are hooked up and installed.

I also got the dash dyed and installed, along with several of the trim pieces and the carpet. The center console is finished, complete with the new switches to control the line lock and secondary fuel pump. I forgot to take pics though, so, I will have to edit this later. I also cut down the shifter and installed the kit to use a manual ****. well. just because...

I also got the car jambed out. I wanted to get that done so that when I get the interior finished I don't have to pull it back apart for the paint process. The color is Dodge Viper Blue Pearlcoat. There will also be a black SS stripe on the car.
