Default Lifter noise

Have a 2002 z28 ls1 Camaro. The lifters just recently started making noise. How do I make them stop? Heard that ls7 lifters are quiet so would that be worth the switch? Help please.

Oil pressure? Mine chattered a bit after the car got hot. Replaced with brand new lifters. Still did it. Checked pressure, was running just under 40 PSI at the limiter. Fixed that issue, lifters never ticked again.

Any more details on the setup? Is the car stock?

My car has terrible lifter tick as well, it's either your oil pressure, or your lifters are the plain out bad and need replaced.

How did you fix the oil pressure?

You need to check the pressure first. Good oil pressure at idle should be 35 to 45 psi and rise with RPM.

If it is significantly lower than that then it usually means your oil pump is worn out and needs to be changed.

Is shows in your signature your car only has 19K so I would bet your oil pump is okay. You should check pressure to be sure.

What are you mods? The LS engines can sound like a sewing machine with nothing wrong. If you have headers this will magnify any sounds from your valvetrain.

I was only asking so the information was out there for others to see...I have no issues with mine, oil pressure is 38-40psi hot idle and cruises around 50-60psi. I went ahead and installed a new gm performance LS6 pump, LS2 chain, and LS6 chain damper when I did the H/C/I install. All my stock stuff still looked brand new, probably could of reused it.

I was getting some VT noise after running the car hard...I was running 7.325 push rods which was preloading my 5315 Morels around .038-.040 on 2 cylinders and .048-.050 on the other 6. I ended up installing 7.350 pushrods which puts me on the high side of acceptable range, but it fixed the noise after hard runs. If all I did was track the car, I would leave the short rods in, but I prefer the quieter VT for street driving and occasional WOT blasts.
