Default How long is LS3 dipstick?

I have an LS3 from a 2014 SS. I put a truck pan when I swapped it, and bought an LS3 guide tube and dipstick.

I put 6.5 qts in and put the LS3 dipstick, and it doesn't even show oil. I added another 0.5 qt and still no oil on the stick. Oil pressure is fine at all RPMS.

The part numbers I used were 12634547 for the dipstick and 12625031 for the guide tube.

Here is a picture of the dipstick next to a truck dipstick, and the guide tubing coming up between cylinders 4 and 6.

The dipstick length doesn't matter, as long as it's paired with the right tube. They all protrude into the sump the same amount

That is what I figure. I was hoping someone would measure an LS3 dipstick for me, to see if I have the right one.

Thanks. I changed to a truck pan, which is a little smaller, I think. Could you measure your dipstick length for me so I know I have the right one?

Thanks

You sure the truck pan is smaller? That doesn't make sense to me.....I would've thought the truck pan would have been larger. Heavier vehicle, harder working engine = more oil and more coolant. Just my warped sense of logic.

In any case, my stick measures between 27 3/16" and 27 1/4".

Gotcha.

But.....if this is a GM truck pan, did you ever look up the specs on the truck engine the pan came on? To me.....this would be the best way to know capacity.

Best of luck!!
