Default New Short Block?

Hey guys, I currently drive a 2008 G8 GT with the L76 and 104k miles and am looking to up it's performance. Right now it is completely stock. I've been looking at purchasing a new short block, in particular

This being a 408, would I be able to retrofit the rest of the engine assembly to the new short block? Would the heads need to be worked on? That kind of stuff. Let me know what you guys think, I'd appreciate anything.

Have you checked with any of our sponsors on the board?

SDPC has some engines they're clearing out. If you're the first caller on Monday they knock off $500. You also get free shipping to a dock or a business with forklift. https://ls1tech.com/forums/sponsor-s...k-special.html

The one you listed does not list what parts are inside the engine. The second issue is you're not a direct customer of the builder so if something happens, you have to go back to Jegs... This can be a logistics nightmare as well as a customer service nightmare should something arise.

Personally, I would rather be direct with the builder.

I just purchased an engine from Travis @ SDPC and he took care of me on all the extra Parts I needed for my build as well as some additional work that needed to be done.

We have a wide variety of options available. Not only do we have engines in stock but we can build just about any LS combination you can imagine. Don't hesitate to send us a message or give us a call. We are happy to help.

So is this implying that the LS2 based 402ci will "bolt on" after removing the stock L76 block? If I went with a 416 or 427 based LS3, would that warrant a change in everything (heads, valvetrain, etc.)?

Just realised after I posted the previous post, the L76 is basically an LS2 block with LS3 heads. Hopefully you guys can give me some insight.

SPDC will get you taken care of!

The other one you listed would not be a direct bolt in replacement for an L76 any way.
