Default How much power

I've got L96 6.0 with 450 miles yes that's it 450 miles I bought it in 13 at a low price i was planning on putting it in a 4th gen that I have but now I've also gotten a 5th gen with now motor or trans . So I planning on putting it in the 5th gen I know some will ask, that is a smaller motor than what come with the car why would some one do that? Well 1. because I have it 2. I'm tired of sweeping around it 3. I think I can get it to perform equal to the 6.2 . I've got a LS3 intake & will be getting long tubes & will be pulling the heads off to replace the intake valves with the LS3 style along with removing the DOD & the VVT as the car is a 6 speed . I have nothing against going with a LLR Cam & milling the heads & buying the correct rockers along with cutting the valve reliefs in the piston for clearance if needed & a tune. What kinda power do you guys think I can get out of this or any other things I can do to this combo for a natural aspirated non nitrous engine?

Agreed.......500+ to the wheels is definitely a possibility.

I would contact CamMotion about setting up that engine with a LLSR valve-train.....and would do it BEFORE doing anything to the heads and pistons.

Also, I'd consider a FAST intake with the mid-length, High-HP runners with a solid roller set-up.

LS3 intake is really quite a good piece
The FAST only seems to add power from the peak torque to the peak horse range where as the low to mid drivability with the LS3 is just explosive
Getting the LS3 intake ported closes the gap on peak numbers as well

Default VVT Cam Use

Hi, "other" choices ?
I would keep the VVT, less cost AND install limiters in the VVT motor.
This operation is easy as the kit I supply/others kit includes a spring retaining tool.

I would fit a new IwIs "single" chain, beef-up the LS-92 chain idle spring.

I too agree, the LS-3 intake, and with VVT, it will surprise you in power AND torque.

GM should have done SO with the LS-3.

With it being a manual trans will VVT work? I thought that was why GM didn't use it in the 6 speeds.

I agree with Lance. There are some awesome VVT camshafts out there now.
Texas Speed occasionally has them on sale for $300. Remember to get the phase limiters as well.

Well, if he takes your advice......we'll see if the OEM LS3 intake can take full advantage of a LLSR setup.

I kinda doubt it.....but we'll see.

Well I'm only basing this off a 554 RWHP grand sport Vette with 239/254 Tooley cam in a PRC255 headed 417. Which only lost 11 peak horse when removing the FAST/102 combo for the factory LS3intake/TB. combo makes more average torque yet still peaked @7100

Ah.....but NOT the FAST with the mid-length runners

I wonder what the difference between the OEM intake and the FAST with the shorter runners would be; particularly with the LLSR cam? Jus' sayin'

Peak speed shop did a radical porting on my stock LS3 intake, at the same time I added LG 1 3/4" street headers x pipe, no cats. RW TQ went from 402 to 434. Im thinking Peak got me around 10-12 lb TQ with the intake...,
(RWHP went from 402 to 424, dont think the intake helped to much there)
Ive got the before and after dyno sheets if interested in seeing them. Just had it dynoed yesterday. Hope this helps...
