Default LS3 Heads On LQ4 6.0 Help Needed

Ive got an LQ4 6.0 and ive been considering pulling the 853 cathedral heads and swapping them out for 821/823 heads and a stock intake. I was curious what I would all need to change to make this work? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Tommy

My .02 talk to Kip @ Cam Motion, be very honest about your goals and
Drive ability requirements and you will get the cam to make you
Happy, Very easy to get the wrong cam with LS3 heads on a 6.0.
Good Luck.

Remember that the G8 has an LS3 top end and is a 6.0l as well. What kind of car are you putting it in. With what driveline?

Square/Rectangle LS heads are a little bit pickier when it comes to cam choice, but get it right and it'll pull from 2800-7100. At least mine does.

My son has a 223/232 .616/.600 in his 09 G8 with full ported heads
I have a 230/238 .626 lift in my 06 GTO with full ported heads. Had to cut valve reliefs in the pistons on mine. Both are running Cam Motion cams.

Following this one!!
I put some ported L92's (milled .025) and a LS3 intake (w/NW92mmTB) on a stock LQ4 and it under performed IMHO. Cam 231/247 .617/.624 @ 113.
It made 426/383 through a stalled 4L60/10 bolt @ 3.42 gears. Pretty sure the lack of compression on those dish pistons is part of the problem
I'm convinced some good cathedrals and more compression would have done better.
The existing cam/head should really like the nitrous though!!

My LS3 heads were cc'd to 64.8 and I'm using a .040" head gasket. Compression is 11.2 with stock pistons.

Interesting....Yours are stock/dished LQ4 pistons? My L92's milled are at 65cc with stock gaskets and was told it should be around 10.2 ?????
This motor/cam combo definitely needs more compression!!
