Ls2 or lq9 pistons for 6.098 rod with reliefs?
Hey guys so I'm doing a budget build on 2000 lq4 block, I had to switch out the crank because of the longer flange and was able to get a stock 2001 and later crank for cheap that will for and some stock 2006 ls2 rods. I'm trying to keep cost low as this motor will not see power adders and just a mild cam ( tsp v3 cam) I'm curious are there any options out there for pistons that will work for the stock 6.098 rod that also comes with valve reliefs?

Wiseco Pro Tru Pistons
Hi:
Check out wiseco pro tru pistons - they come in different bore and stroke combos. you can get them in 4.000 or 4.030 bores with compression heights of 1.335 and they use the .943 stock pins that your ls2 rods use. In other words, these are perfect for your stock LS2 rods. Budget wise they come in really good. I was looking on fleabay and saw a set that comes with pins, spirolox and rings for $410.00. thats about half of what the same pistons in wiseco's professional series cost. And those don't come with rings. Also, the ones I saw have a +4cc dome which brings the CR in at 11:1 with 64cc heads. they will also accomodate L92/LS3 valves if you want to install those heads. Have a good one.

You probably don't need the valve reliefs with that kind of cam...unless you mill the heads alot or run some big valved heads like L92s.
The LY6 or L76 pistons come with valve reliefs and they are setup for a 4" bore with the stock Gen IV rods.
