Default Tapping before and after DOD delete.........

Chasing my tail here. Just fired up a 2008 Silverado with a 5.3 after we did the DOD delete kit. New oil pump. New oil pan. New rear main. Front main. Lifters of course. Non DOD valley cover.

Still tapping like it has a collapsed lifter and I don't have an immediate answer. 40 psi oil pressure constant.

Any ideas?

Could you confirm that it was a lifter issue before or after tear down? Does it sound cam speed or crank speed?

EDIT: if everything valvetrain related was replaced, I'd bet it's "piston slap".

Had the typical collapsed lifter issue that DOD and non DOD cars have. We checked cam and old lifter rollers to ensure the old cam was not damaged like some I have seen from a roller failure.

My buddy Chad said he corvette he just put together last week did the same **** with a new engine till the tuner beat the **** out of it getting the tune done. We couldn't drive it since the AFM is freking out. We will have it tuned tomorrow and find out before we take it back apart.

Update, turned the DOD off and the engine started up, was quiet. Then made noise. Then got quiet. Test drive has found to be great.

What lifters and what dod delete kit?

I just had the similar issue with a customers 08 silverado. Did the AFM delete with the Texas Speed kit and a cam swap to their stage 3 low lift cam, after start up it had a lifter noise like it wasn't pumping up. I let it run for a minute killed it pulled the valve covers found the top of two rocker arms still dry, reassembled the valve cover started it back up let it run for another 2 minutes and the lifters finally pumped up. Took a total of around 4 mins for two of the lifters to pump up, which is the longest I have ever seen. They where ac delco ls7 lifters.

Same DOD kit for this truck as well. So far so good. We didn't touch the cam.

Oh! I ended up replacing my cam when I did it on my truck. Mine looked like junk. It has a stock ls3 cam in it now.

Yes, they looked fantastic. But, it is fine as if last night. Just didn't want to prime the night before.

When I first tried to prime my LS1 many years ago before swapping it in it took FOREVER to get oil to the top end. Hopefully it stays quiet now then.
